Vinegar Liver Cleanse

By Lily Welsh, eHow Contributor
Apple cider vinegar liver cleanse diets can leave you feeling refreshed and healthy. Although doctors have not uncovered any clear-cut evidence that a liver cleanse improves health, people who try vinegar cleanse diets report benefits from improved skin, hair and nail to having more energy. The theory is that your liver stores pollutants and fatty buildup from unhealthy diets, so flushing your liver will improve liver functions, and therefore, your overall health. Vinegar liver cleanses are simple to follow and can be completed in three days.

Vinegar Cleanse Methods

  • Apple cider vinegar is the vinegar of choice for a liver cleanse. You can add the vinegar to your diet in a few different ways. One is to take 2 tsp. of apple cider vinegar approximately 15 minutes before you eat. You need to repeat this three times a day for maximum effect. If the taste is too strong for you, you can stir the vinegar into a glass of water.

You can also opt to add your apple cider vinegar into your meals. You can use the vinegar as a basis for salad dressing or sprinkle it onto your food. Make sure you get the full 2 tsp. at every meal. Note that using apple cider vinegar in a marinade will not give you the same effect, since not all of the vinegar will be absorbed and some of the benefits of what is absorbed will be lost in the cooking process.

Alternatively, if the taste is too much for you, you can take apple cider vinegar supplement pills. They are available at health food stores.

Stick to your cleansing regime for at least three days.

What to Expect

  • During the cleanse period, some people experience nausea and vomiting as the toxins leave the body. Your skin may also break out, and your hair may feel greasy, again thanks to the toxins. A headache is also possible. The first day of the cleanse is often the worst. You should expect the negative effects to clear up by the third day. You can minimize the unpleasant side of the liver cleanse by sticking to a healthy diet.

Post liver cleanse, many people report having more energy. Your skin, hair and nails should recover from any deterioration they experienced during the cleanse and be stronger than before. You may also experience weight loss.
